Turf Laying Morayfield
Site Preparation:
Spray out existing lawn & weeds with Poison it can take up to 7-10 days for all existing turf to be completely dead, follow the label for rates to give the maximum kill, (a second application may be required).
Turf Installation:
1. Prior to laying turf check that the soil surface is not too hot, lightly wet the soil down if required.
2. Install your lawn immediately upon delivery, turf degrades on the pallet, and it is recommended that all turf should be laid within 4 hours of delivery in summer/spring & 12 hours in winter/autumn, failing to do so can lead to pallet burn.
3. Begin installing turf along the longest straight line, such as a driveway or footpath, butt and push ends against each other tightly, without stretching the slabs you should stagger the joints in each row in a brick-like fashion, using a large sharp knife to trim corners.
4.On slopes, place the turf pieces across the slope. After installing the turf, roll the entire area, this will improve the contact between the turf and soil and help to level out any footprints Begin watering lawn within 30 minutes of installation.Turf is a living plant that requires ground contact and moisture as soon as possible. During the first two weeks, avoid heavy or concentrated use of your new lawn, this gives the roots an opportunity to firmly knit with the soil, and ensures that the turf will remain smooth.
If your soil is not great please don't hesitate and use under-turf soil this will help your turf roots system take off in the first few weeks. After a couple of weeks just check if your turf is firmly attached to your soil and if so it's taken.
First Mow:
Always when you mow your new turf(After 4 weeks)and this will depends on the type of season it is i.e Summer make sure you lift your height of the mower so you only cut the top few inches
